Orange Council
Summer Camp Program
The Summer Camp Program is financially supported by Los Angeles Times Grant Funds, St. Vincent de Paul Parish Conferences, and private donations through the SVdP Council Offices and the St. Vincent de Paul Center for Community Reconciliation.
For the past 25 years this program has sponsored an average of 350 children from extreme low income households and, in many cases an "at risk" environment, are given the opportunity to experience the great outdoors in God's green grassy acres away from their concrete/blacktop playground they are so accustomed to.
The two camps utilized for this program are the Circle V Ranch Camp located in the Los Padres National Forest above Santa Barbara on Lake Cachuma that is owned and operated by the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Los Angeles Council and Camp Mariastella located in the San Bernardino Mountains at Wrightwood which is owned and operated by the Sisters of Social Service in Los Angeles. The American Camping Association approves both campsites.
Prior to attending these camps each child receives a free medical physical, clothing, and camping gear. They meet new friends and just have a lot of fun. This program gives these children a chance to see and know there is another side to life!!!
