DARK NIGHT AND ALTERNATE SITES

Sometimes the National Guard Armories are not available a few nights each month. On these “dark nights”, clients will be sheltered at alternate sites.

The Santa Ana Armory will be closed:
Friday April 4, 2008; Saturday April 5, 2008; and Sunday April 6, 2008

* Return to Santa Ana Armory on Monday – April 7, 2008

Program Summary:
This program provides shelter to 300 homeless individuals per night (150/Armory) with a nutritious meal, a warm shower, a safe place to sleep, warm clothes, outreach services and a friendly atmosphere at the National Guard Armories in Santa Ana and Fullerton.

November 18, 2007 through April 15, 2008

Donation Wish List

The Orange County Emergency Cold Weather Shelter Program is in need of donated items like breakfast snacks, coffee, candy, popcorn, cookies, fruit, and hygiene products. These can be dropped off at the Armories between 5:00PM and 8:00PM daily (addresses below), or at the Society of St. Vincent de Paul Warehouse between 8:00AM and 3:00PM (address below). All donations are tax deductible.

The following items are needed:

Food–
Donuts, dry food, fresh fruit, muffins, cookies, health bars, candy, popcorn, peanuts, and any other snack foods (please check expiration dates)

Clothing – T Shirts & sweat shirts (L & XL), socks, undergarments (new & still packaged please), gloves, mittens, warm clothing (for men, women & children)

Hygiene Products (sample sizes are best) – Razors, shave cream, cologne, combs, hair brushes, toothpaste, tooth brushes, dental floss, mouthwash, aspirin, cold medication, band aids, soap, shampoo, body lotion, feminine hygiene.

Reading Material – Magazines, paperback books, bibles, crossword puzzles.

Miscellaneous – Pens, paper tablets, laundry detergent, eyeglasses.

  • 180 South Cypress, Orange, CA (intersection of Cypress & Almond)
    Drop-off between 8:00AM to 3:00PM Monday through Friday
